Our common interactive book

We write an interactive book with appearances of popular literature characters. We choose our favourite book heroes who take us to their world and show us the magic of books.

Our book is an interactive e-book containing, apart from the main content, additional information for students, plays and games and suggests alternative endings of the story.

Students from every country create from one to three chapters with characters from their favourite books. Constant figures appearing in every chapter are two girls and our book gnome.

Together we create the book in a shape of a blog, after publishing we will gather all of the stories and we will publish them as an e-book, also available for downloading and printing.

Introduction

Once upon a time, somewhere in Europe, in a school library, an unusual happening took place. A group of students decided to check, what's happening in the library at night. Children have heard, that during this time ghosts use to appear, characters come out from books and the library becomes a magical place.

They spent in the library a few hours on joyful games and plays, but nothing weird happened. A little bit dissapointed, a while before midnight, they got home. But not everyone.

Two best friends, Kate and Julie, had hidden earlier in a corner and had a little gossip talk. They haven't noticed that everyone had already left, and the librarian had locked the door. As they discovered that they are alone, it was too late. They were screaming and knocking, but nobody heard it.

The clock chimed midnight and something weird happened. The girls heard a rustle behind their back. They carefully looked behind bookshelfs and saw a book gnome, which was strolling between the shelves. Shyly they approached to him and that was when he spoke.

- Don't be afraid, it's fine you're here. Finally someone new. Every night I meet the same characters. Let me show you some interesting books.

Kate, who wasn't really into reading, answered:
- What for? They are all boring anyway.

On the other hand, passionate book lover Julie was very glad. The gnome said:
- Wait, maybe you'll change your mind. We start a magical journey through different books. Feel invited.

We also invite you to the magical journey in the world of books. Each part of our book is about another characters and different adventures. Have fun.

On Friday we went with students from 1.C and 2.C to the library. Here we were welcome aunt librarian. First we talked about Pavol Dobšinský. Then she began to read fairy-tales. Our task was to write a name of fairy-tales on paper. Our answers will be evaluated later.

Polish night in the library

After almost half-year-long implementation of our project we decided to check how does the library look like at night.

On 8th March, at Friday's late evening, we met in the school library and during a 3-hour-long fun we discovered that during night the library is even more interesting. Characters are coming out from their books, ghosts, witches and bats are flying all around, and, above all, reading and solving literature quizzes makes a lot fun.

The meeting started from night traveling through whole school, lightning it only with our flashlights. We were listening to all the quiet sounds and searching for smallest lights that came through the windows.

After coming back to the library our literature game began. We completed 10 tasks. We were searching for missing characters and their properties, clearing up the titles and solving charades, drawing witch's cottage with our eyes covered, biting off wafers to create ghost shape from them, embalming a mummy and adorning a fairy. After reading a coded password - the key - we finaly got to the treasure keeped by the biggest ghost.

Our night meeting was ended with a theatre of shadows.

Unusual lesson

Today, in a class 2b an interesting lesson took place. It was about the book "The Black sheep" by J.Grabowski. The class was visited by a real sheep - the animal of one of the students. Karolina, because that's the sheep's name, is only two weeks old. Kids immediately fell in love with her. They were able to see the sheep, feed her with milk from a bottle, observe her in contact with children, talk about the book's content.

"The Black Sheep" is a funny story about Metka, a sheep which lost it's parents and raised by dogs. Metka used to sleep in a dog's kennel, bark at guest, know dogs' tricks, and even run around the backyard with a bone, which was earlier won in a fight with another adoptive doggy brother.
